Customs Regulatory Manager


The Organisation

A global FMCG business based in the West London region seeking to appoint a Customs Regulatory Manager. This is a newly created position to support and advise the business in matters concerned with the interpretation of EU and UK law regards to moving raw materials, finished products, co-packed and intermediate products across the hard borders between GB , Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the rest of the EU / EEA.

The Role
 

- To be able to understand, interpret and implement changes to customs ways of working across the business for trade moving from GB to NI, EU or EEA territories or vice versa. The appointed person will need to able to break down such changes into easy-to-follow guidance and training for Business Partners
- To develop and direct the businesses relationships with industry trade associations in relation to customs and export activities and to be able to elucidate the businesses position to the same and to represent the business externally in trade and government organisation’s for customs and exports matters
- Develop and implement robust and strategic alliances with appropriate key UK and European businesses and influencing organisations for customs and export activities
- Drive strategic and tactical communications with agreed Stakeholders, to include Customers and opinion forming organisations, in conjunction with the External Affairs and Public relations functions for customs and exports
- Advise on emerging technical or legislative issues that might impact on customs operations and in particular may need to be addressed through public statements or comments
- Become the key trainer on customs systems such as EHC online, TSS and border requirements. Develop training methodology to train others in these systems operations
- To provide technical expertise and management systems in the development of accurate and appropriate internal and external communications regarding customs and exports and to support all parts of the Company in managing the impact of such matters
- Support and deputise for the Head of Regulatory Affairs in policy and procedure management and document creation

 
The Candidate

Essential criteria:

- University Degree/higher national diploma
- 2 + years’ experience in dealing with food and customs law in a food, drink, consumer or retail business
- Application of food regulation in claims and labelling
- Influencing Management on quality and food regulation matters
- Very good understanding of the EU food regulations
- Very Good understanding of the EU-UK TCA and legislation
- Good appreciation of EU food regulations implementation in the EU member states
- Fluent English language skills
- Managing product legality, quality and safety
- Microsoft Office and InterSpec
- Strong oral and written communication skills
