Office-based sales/account management role

Fiddes Payne is an established FMCG business based in Banbury. They manufacture home baking products including baking kits and accessories, under license, own label and their own brand. They also manufacture a range of savoury products including herbs, spices and meal accompaniments. They employ a team of nine people in their sales team, and appointed Mackenzie Jones to find them a Business Manager who would be tasked with developing business within four key grocery retail accounts as well as developing business in non-grocery retail channels.


Fiddes Payne’s sales team is office based, meaning that the candidate pool for this particular role was limited to those who live within a reasonable daily commute of their offices in Banbury, or those who were able and very willing to relocate. This immediately ruled out a significant percentage of our existing database who were based further afield in other areas of the UK.


A highly proactive approach; alongside approaching the small number of relevant candidates on our database, we used LinkedIn and a number of online CV libraries to search for, approach and engage with the most relevant individuals in the market. We also advertised the role on relevant websites such as The Grocer, LinkedIn and Food Man Jobs, and actively promoted the role to our existing network in order to generate referrals from individuals we already knew. 

Something we all know and can relate to: it’s a genuine pleasure to work with people who just know what they are doing and are at the top of their game. I’ve worked with Katy Insley as both client and candidate and highly recommend her. She sets herself apart through the questions she asks, and she listens to gain a genuine understanding of what’s needed, what will work and what will not. By getting right to the heart of what’s needed I see fewer candidates but ones where there is a much closer match, which is ultimately a better and more effective use of the candidates time and mine.
