Mackenzie Jones were retained by a leading retail business to assist with the recruitment of 6 buyers across various categories through a period of significant growth. Prior to engaging Mackenzie Jones, the business had worked, unsuccessfully, with 2 other partners on a contingent basis.
Working closely with the Commercial Director to fully understand the clients’ business workload and priorities, the lack of internal resource together with anticipating the notice periods of candidates, an interim solution to ‘bridge the gap’ whilst the recruitment process was underway was suggested and agreed by the client.
Given that the majority of interim buying/trading candidates tend to operate at a more strategic level, it was understood that finding ‘hands on’ interim buyers who are both suitable and immediately available would be difficult. A shortlist of 3 candidates was presented to the client within 4 business days with the client scheduling interviews and offering the preferred candidate after just one meeting. The Commercial Director commented on the effectiveness of the approach and the peace of mind knowing that the rest of the recruitment process could be continued without the additional pressures caused by the lack of resource.
